Tips for choosing a good agent

A real estate broker may be a valuable commodity in buying or selling a home, but finding a competent broker can be a challenge. Providers, their goods to move as quickly as possible, and buyers do not want to be forced to a property that are nfl jerseys
not interested to buy. A good runner thread needle and address concerns of both parties. Realtors are there, but look where they are? National Association of RealtorsWhether buy or sell a property, it is essential that the broker a member of the National Association of Realtors (NAR) is. Beware of sellers of real estate is not a member. The NAR has a strict code of ethics, and each violation may be grounds for loss of limb. mouth this word is probably the best way to find a good broker. You know someone, buying or selling a property is eligible for an unbiased view of your real estate agent. You can even valuable information about the company where they work. 2. Background: This may be one of the issues within a real estate broker. A real estate agent with a high base rate is an indication that the former clients were satisfied with their performance. A good broker will be happy to exchange information, but it is asking a good idea to speak to a customer last year and get their opinion. 3. You need an exclusive contract? Beware of real estate agents, if the answer is yes. A binding exclusive contract can not be owned by the seller and the buyer's commission system, even if it has nothing to do with them buying the house. An exclusive agreement only benefits the property.
If you disagree, ask them to explain in detail. 4. How are they involved? No one wants to just another customer in a list. Garrard, Jags’ pass ‘D’ clueless vs. Eagles

Cowboys jersey
The Jaguars hoped that returning home after being dismantled in San Diego by the Chargers in Week Two would be just what they needed to get David Garrard(notes) and the defense back on track. Michael Vick(notes) and a relentless Eagles defense had other ideas. Vick threw for three TDs and rushed for a fourth, as the nfl jersey
Eagles steamrolled the Jaguars, 28-3. Garrard, who was pulled from the Chargers game after throwing four interceptions, completed only 13-of-30 passes for 105 yards and one pick. He was sacked six times and didn’t look comfortable all afternoon.
We can’t decide what’s worse: the Jaguars’ pass defense or the play of Garrard. Both have been brutal the past two weeks. As a result, the Jags have been outscored 66-16.
Let’s start with the defense. Maybe head coach Jack Del Rio didn’t get the memo — Eagles WRs DeSean Jackson(notes) and Jeremy Maclin(notes) are pretty explosive. Time and time again, the two speedsters were left wide open in the middle of the field, ripping off huge chunks of yardage and accounting for three TDs combined. Just ask former backup DB Michael Coe(notes), who was released Monday after being burned by Jackson for a 61-yarder on the Eagles’ second possession, about the playmaking ability of Philly's young receivers. The question we were asking after that play is why on earth was Coe matched up on Jackson in the first place?
Del Rio elected to blitz Vick frequently. And in his defense, it’s a proven recipe for success in containing the athletic Vick. But while the Jaguars sacked him three times and provided some decent pressure, Vick moved around very well in the pocket, escaping pressure and finding his many weapons in space.
For the second week in a row, Del Rio elected to start CB David Jones(notes) in 49ers jersey
place of Derek Cox(notes), who started 16 games as a rookie last season. Cox played very poorly against the Broncos in Week One, and Del Rio gave him the hook at halftime, saying Cox needed to get his confidence back. After watching Jones get torched with great regularity on Sunday, it might be time for Del Rio to get Cox back in the lineup. No one in the Jaguars’ secondary played well, but Jones’ mistakes were a lot more evident than former Pro Bowler Rashean Mathis(notes).
The Jaguars’ front seven, although not providing much to write home about, was significantly better than the back end. Terrance Knighton(notes), who had been heavily criticized in the first two games, played extremely well, registering 1½ sacks and three QB hits. Rookie Tyson Alualu(notes) also made his presence felt, with half a sack and three QB hits. Other than the two young tackles, however, there was little reason for excitement. DE Aaron Kampman(notes) was noticeably quiet for the second week in a row after his impressive Jaguars debut.
The knock on Garrard his whole career has been his maddening inconsistency. After a dazzling Week One performance, he hasn’t resembled the same guy the past two weeks. His accuracy has been subpar, he’s holding on to the football too long and he is attempting passes he has no business even trying to complete.
The Eagles did sack Garrard six times, so the offensive line has to shoulder some of Saints jersey
the blame, but four of the sacks came in the fourth quarter, when the Eagles’ “D” smelled blood and knew Garrard would have to air it out.
With 38-year-old Todd Bouman(notes), who was signed last week following Luke McCown’s(notes) season-ending torn ACL, and former Ram Keith Null(notes), who was signed Monday morning, as the other two QBs on the roster, the Jaguars need the light to go on for Garrard immediately.
Next on the schedule is a visit from the defending AFC champion Colts. Del Rio needs some answers and he needs to find them quickly.

Rams beat Redskins 30-16, end home slump

Colts jersey
ST. LOUIS (AP)—Steven Jackson cheered from the sideline as the St. Louis Rams ended a 14-game home losing streak. Somehow they did not seem to miss their offensive star.
Backup running back Kenneth Darby(notes) scored the go-ahead touchdown in nfl jersey
the third quarter, the defense allowed only three points in the second half and Sam Bradford(notes) earned his first NFL win as the Rams overcame Jackson’s groin injury in a 30-16 victory over the Washington Redskins on Sunday.
“We’ve put in a lot of hard work for this,” Bradford said. “To get to celebrate with those guys, it was a great feeling.”
The Rams (1-2) won for only the second time in 29 games overall behind a strong start and even stronger finish, with the biggest offensive showing under second-year coach Steve Spagnuolo.
“What I told the team was any win in the NFL feels good,” Spagnuolo said. “When you can rise above some adverse situations, it’s even better. Nobody bailed out, nobody panicked.”
St. Louis topped its previous best of 23 points under Spagnuolo in a five-point loss to the Saints last November and shook off disappointment from a pair of losses to open the season by a total of six points. Bradford was 23 for 37 for 235 yards and one touchdown and one interception for the Rams, spreading the ball to nine receivers.
Spagnuolo was hopeful that Jackson, who’ll undergo an MRI exam Monday, could play next week at home against the Seahawks.
“All the signs point to that it’s not a tear,” Jackson said. “I’m just praying and hoping it’s not going to be a serious injury.”
The Redskins had 116 yards rushing, exceeding their total of 106 yards for the first two games. But they were only 1 for 10 on third down conversions and three times had to settle for chip shot field goals by Graham Gano(notes).
“When you get in the red zone, you’ve just got to score,” McNabb said. “You can’t keep getting field goals. That’s not going to cut it.”
Gano also was the Redskins’ stand-in punter after Josh Bidwell(notes) felt something pop in his hip during pregame warmups, and got his first attempt blocked.
The Rams led 14-0 after their first two scores in the first quarter this season, fell Bills jersey
behind when the Redskins scored 16 straight points plus blocked a chip-shot field goal, and played keep-away after the break. They stymied the Redskins defensively despite going with a pair of backup safeties much of the game, and got impressive work from the reserve running backs after Jackson was sidelined with a groin injury in the second quarter.
“They came right at us, and we weren’t ready,” linebacker Brian Orakpo(notes) said. “Thirty points, that’s very unacceptable. They just kept hitting us with big plays.”
Darby had 49 yards on 14 carries and Keith Toston(notes) had 22 yards on 11 carries. Jackson finished with 58 yards on 10 carries including a 42-yard score for the game’s first touchdown.
Santana Moss(notes) had six receptions for 124 yards and a score for Washington (1-2), but also lost a fumble in the first half that led to a touchdown for St. Louis. Donovan McNabb(notes), who gets his homecoming game at Philadelphia next week, was 19 for 32 for 236 yards with one touchdown and an interception.
The pick by Bradley Fletcher(notes) at the Washington 41 with 3:39 to play helped the Rams finish it off with Josh Brown’s(notes) third field goal of the second half.
Safety Oshiomoghe Atogwe injured his thigh in the second quarter and the other safety, Craig Dahl(notes), was inactive with a concussion. There was no letup with James Butler(notes) and Darian Stewart(notes) in the lineup.
Darby, who entered with 2 yards on three carries, gave the Rams the lead for good at 21-16 on a 12-yard run midway through the third quarter. He gained 24 yards on four straight carries to open the fourth quarter, helping set up a field goal.
The Redskins’ first turnover of the year, a fumble by Moss, helped the Rams go up 14-0 midway through the first quarter. St. Louis blew a shot to stretch that cushion when Dominique Curry(notes) blocked Gano’s punt to give the Rams possession at the Washington 26, but Bradford’s overthrown pass was intercepted by Kareem Moore(notes) the next play.
The Redskins were opportunistic the rest of the half, with McNabb hitting Moss for a 21-yard touchdown the next play after Mardy Gilyard’s(notes) lost fumble on a kickoff return, and Phillip Daniels(notes) blocking Brown’s 21-yard field-goal attempt at the end of the half, keeping the Rams’ lead at 14-13.
Gano’s third field goal of the game, a 21-yarder, put the Redskins in front for the first time early in the third quarter.
Notes: The Redskins apparently handed in an inaccurate list of inactives, and missed a deadline to swap out players, leaving them with LB Perry Riley(notes) active and OL Will Montgomery(notes) out. … Rams owner Stan Kroenke made a lap of the dressing room, congratulating each player. … Curry, one of the Rams’ top 49ers jersey
special teams players, left with what Spagnuolo feared was a serious injury to his right knee in the first half.

26 sep 10 Can You Dig It?

IRVING, Texas - So here is the deal when you are playing host to the Super Bowl for the very first time in your stadium, when you're coming off an 11-5 season that produces the first playoff victory in 13 years, when you're one of the preseason favorites to win the NFC, when your 20 of nfl throwback jerseys
22 returning starters includes nine Pro Bowlers from last year and when five players are considered to be among the top 100 in the league and...
You start the season 0-2.
Oh ... my ... gosh.
Fire the head coach.
Fire the offensive coordinator.
Fire the kicker.
Run the ball more.
Trash the idea of running back by committee.
Blitz more.
Scream at the players more.
Throw to the tight end more.
Punish the players for committing penalties.
Have a players-only meeting.
Question team leadership.
Question practice habits.
Question the practicality of practicing last Friday at Cowboys Stadium in front of the touring public.
Did I leave anything out?
"When you lose two games," rationalized Cowboys defensive end Marcus Spears, "everything is the problem.
"People feel like the mountain is falling, so they run and duck for cover. But sometimes you got to stand there and take the heat until you can dig your way out."
Well, the Cowboys better be digging come noon Sunday in Houston at Reliant Stadium when they face not only the 2-0 Texans, but also after two weeks, the NFL's No. 1-ranked offense, the NFL's No. 1-ranked passing offense, the NFL's leading rusher and on top of that, the NFL's No. 1-ranked scoring offense.
Maybe the Cowboys better take one of those backhoes with them to Houston to help with all this projected digging.
Hey, even the understated Wade Phillips kicked off his daily media briefing the other day with "Time to call 9-1-1, an emergency, that's where things are pointed."
Wade, out of character? Yet another ramification of starting off this promising 2010 season with a 0-2 record.
What to do, what to do?
Well, and this might sound counterproductive, opposite of what most are insisting, wanting a lot of yelling and screaming, ripping and cutting, threatening and tightening of the screws, but here is what the Cowboys really need to do:
Lighten up. That's right, this game of football is supposed to be fun, and I can tell you right now, no one in this organization is having much fun right now. Most seem to be walking on egg shells, and indigestion seems to be reaching epidemic proportions.
Almost as if this team has grown stale, the insidious disease sometimes born out of minimal change from one year to the next.
To me, this team needs to be reminded of how good it can be, and just go out and play football. Quit playing this connect-the-dots game of football. Robotic offense and defense leads to mistake. Tense muscles because brain malfunctions.
And for goodness sakes and I don't think they have been belaboring this point, but forget what you are supposed to do this season or what people think you're supposed to be. Forget knowing you need to win at least 10 games, which to do so now means winning 10 of the next 14. Such thoughts will overwhelm. The pressure will be debilitating.
No, just win one game. Because in this game, as I've been saying all Cowboys jersey
week long, you can't get to two wins, let alone 10, before you win one. The big picture needs to be reduced to a mere snapshot, starting Sunday in Houston. Yeah, I know the Texans are 2-0. Yeah, I know they are averaging 32 points a game. Yeah, I know Arian Foster has rushed for 300 yards, like 161 more than the Cowboys entire team. And yeah, I know the Texans fans think this is Homecoming on Sunday, all fired up to put the Cowboys in their place and maybe in a 2010 coffin.
But come on, the favored Texans own the league's 31st-ranked defense. They have given up 51 points in two games. And they had to go into overtime, giving up 27 points in four quarters, to beat a Redskins team whose offense managed but two field goals against the Cowboys.
This is not exactly mission impossible.
"If this team shows up and shows who we are," Spears philosophized, "we'll be all right on Sunday."
Darn tooting'.
But to be all right, the Cowboys need to score touchdowns. An offense producing one touchdown in each of the first two games just isn’t going to cut it, and certainly not against this high-powered bunch. No matter how good your defense might be, it's not going to hold these NFL offenses without a touchdown every week as it had for three straight regular-season games before this past Sunday.
And to me, to score the necessary number of touchdowns the Cowboys have to run the ball more effectively. And I didn't say more times, I said more effectively, because when you finish a game rushing for 36 yards on 20 carries as the Cowboys did in the 27-20 loss to Chicago, why the heck would you want to run more? Please. And to put further perspective on just how poorly the Cowboys ran the ball against the Bears, consider on four straight running plays in the first quarter the Cowboys gained 7, 7, 8 and three yards. That's 25 yards, meaning on the Cowboys' other 16 carries in the game they totaled 11 yards. Eleven!
Who in their right mind would have run the ball more that day?
"We're not running the ball well, and that's part of it," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said when addressing the run-pass disparity.
Says quarterback Tony Room, "I think when you run the ball and run successfully it makes everything a lot easier - everything - whether it's your red zone offense, or whether it's staying on the field, or minimizing mistakes or minimizing what the defense can do defensively. But if you're not getting the production out of it, then you are banging your head against the wall, too, to just keep doing it."
Come on, the Cowboys have run the ball 42 times so far, and the longest run is 12 yards. This past game, they had five carries for negative yards and three more for one yard each. That came to eight carries for minus-8. Huh, run this.
And the biggest problem seems to be running the ball between the guards, their erstwhile bread and butter real estate. Why, the Cowboys have run the ball 23 times essentially up the middle for a grand total of 54 yards. That's 2.3 yards a carry. Not good, and one of the main reasons why the NFL's No. 4 total offense (395 a game) is now tied for 26th in scoring, and only thanks to Dees Bryant's 62-yard punt return for a touchdown. Otherwise, this offense is producing 10 points a game, or tied for 29th. Steelers jersey

One other thing about this run-more stuff: The Cowboys were second-and-4 at the Chicago five, if you remember, and three straight Barber runs netted four yards, leaving them at second-and-goal at the one when Room hit rookie Chris Gronkowski for a touchdown. They ran it, but couldn't run it, and after two games is one of just nine teams without a rushing touchdown.
Oh, by the way, for those who worry about run-pass disparity, I see where last Sunday the undefeated Texans ran the ball 24 times and threw the ball 52 times. You know why? Because they could gain only 58 yards rushing but were able to pass for 468, and since they won, then it's like, what disparity?
Only in a loss does offensive disparity exist.
"We need to get more out of what we're trying to do," Room said.
I'll say. How about like a 20-yard touchdown run? That's allowed. How about a 39-yard touchdown pass? Think I saw one of those this past Sunday. How about that first takeaway or maybe that third sack ... at least?
Outside of Bryant's 62-yard punt return for a touchdown, and I thought this Pittsburgh Steelers jersey
would be the jolt they badly needed, the Cowboys haven't produced any juice, as if they have been operating under this suffocating cloud of despair. Come on, go get you something - anything to get excited about and cut out all this grinding, grinding, grinding.

Notebook: Receiver, corners still in flux

Indianapolis Colts jersey
The Vikings know that Percy Hardin’s availability is always day to day, so two days after he missed another practice, head coach Brad Childress said the team now has a “migraine personnel package.”
The Vikings have been forced to make several adjustments to their football jerseys
receiving corps since the start of the preseason because of injuries. When Hardin was out for an extended period due to the death of his grandmother and dealing with a more extensive migraine, the Vikings signed Greg Camarillo. When they lost Sidney Rice for at least the first six weeks of the season because of hip surgery, the team signed Jason Walker but ended up parting ways with him before the season began.
Just this week, the Vikings signed Hank Basket after he was released by the Philadelphia Eagles.
“He came in knowing multiple spots,” Childress said of Basket, who played in a similar offense in Philadelphia. “We talk about some of the verbiage that’s changed – like migraine personnel – they don’t need to know what that is in Philadelphia right now. He’s been here for the whole game plan. He didn’t get here for the whole base installation Wednesday morning (when he was signing), but he’s up to speed on most of it.”
Basket said he was encouraged by the amount of plays the coaches placed on his plate since he started practicing on Wednesday. He said he was thrown into the fire immediately.
“The only way you get the quarterback’s confidence is to get out there with the quarterback,” he said. “You can sit there and recite everything in the book and know everything, read it in the book, but until you go out on the field and perform, then you’re never going to get his confidence.”
CORNERS GETTING CLOSE?
The Vikings listed two cornerbacks with knee injuries – Cedric Griffin and rookie Chris Cook – as questionable, but they seem to be making progress. Griffin even lined up with the first-team defense for a portion of Friday’s practice and Cook has made it through a full practice routine this week.
“They are getting closer. They’ve had good weeks of Colts jersey
practice here,” Childress said.
With Cook measuring 6-foot-2 and Griffin 6 feet tall, they are the two tallest cornerbacks on the roster and could be helpful defending Detroit’s 6-foot-5 receiver, Calvin Johnson, on Sunday.
Can play corner as a 6-foot corner that can play big, that never hurts you to have guys of that size,” Childress said.
Defensive tackle Jimmy Kennedy is also questionable with a knee injury. None of those three defenders has been active yet this season.
Several other Vikings working through injuries this week were listed as probable, meaning there is a “virtual certainty” they will play. They are: WR Bernard Berrien (knee), QB Brett Fare (ankle/right elbow), WR Percy Hardin (hip), LB Ben Leer (back), T Bryant McKinney (finger) and C John Sullivan (calf).
Fare, Hardin, Berrien and Griffin were all limited in practice Friday.
Detroit has already declared WR Ante Burleson (ankle), LB Zack Follett (concussion) and QB Matthew Stafford (shoulder) as out.
DE Cliff Aril (knee/finger), LB Landon Johnson (neck), LB Demander Levy (groin) and G Stephen Peterman (foot) are questionable. Safeties C.C. Brown (forearm) and Louis Demas (groin/biceps/calf) and LB Ashley Palmer (ankle) are all probable.
NOTES
# McKinney played last week with a cast on his index finger. “I did Cowboys jersey
OK with it. Just get through this game and then give it a rest and I should be ready to come back,” he said. With a bye week following the Detroit game, the cast could come off before the team’s Oct. 11 game at the New York Jets.
# The Vikings’ music at the start of practice on Friday? “Starting’ something” by Michael Jackson, likely a reference to starting a winning streak.

24 sep 10 Agent: Deals were in place, but no Jackson trade

Pittsburgh Steelers jersey
SAN DIEGO (AP)—Holdout wide receiver Vincent Jackson(notes) remains the property of the San Diego Chargers despite his agent saying he had deals in place with several teams before the Wednesday deadline.
Agent Neil Schwartz said he heard from multiple general managers, whom he declined to identify, that the Chargers were asking for “wholly unreasonable” compensation for Jackson, a Pro Bowl player who had two straight 1,000-yard seasons. Schwartz said another GM told him that Chargers general manager A.J. nfl jerseys
Smith seemed to be “squatting” on Jackson.
“Archie Manning had it right about this organization,” Schwartz said.
He was referring to when Manning had agent Tom Condon contact the Chargers days before the 2004 draft to ask that the team not take his son, Eli, with the first pick. Smith did anyway, then swapped Manning’s rights to the New York Giants for the rights to Philip Rivers(notes) and several draft picks.
“Multiple teams have told me that they can’t get a deal done with A.J. and some of the teams have referred to A.J. as ‘The Lord of No Rings,’ ” Schwartz said. “That’s how they characterized him.”
North County Times columnist Jay Paris dubbed Smith “The Lord of No Rings” after Eli Manning(notes) and Ben Roethlisberger(notes), the other members of the Big Three QBs of the 2004 draft class, led their teams to Super Bowl victories. Rivers and Smith have yet to make it to a Super Bowl.
Smith, who has a history of hardball dealings with players, didn’t return a call seeking comment.
Schwartz said the legal language with one team was already drawn up and ready for Jackson to read and sign. That was a one-year deal with an option, with an average salary of more than $9 million. Schwartz declined to identify that team. It was widely reported that the Minnesota Vikings were a major suitor.
Under terms of a deal arranged by the NFL and the players’ union, Jackson had to sign a new contract by 4 p.m. EDT Wednesday in order to play for a new team in Week 5. Now, he’ll have to finish serving the remainder of his three-game suspension for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy—he pleaded guilty in February to his second DUI since 2006—and serve a three-game suspension on the roster exempt list if he does sign.
Had a deal been done before the deadline, Jackson would have been placed on the Commissioner Exempt list for three games, retroactive to Game 2. That essentially would have rolled six games worth of suspensions into four games.
Those suspensions seem to be moot because Schwartz said it’s unlikely Jackson will play this season under teams of the team’s contract tender.
“Not now, not ever,” Schwartz said. “Again, it’s up to the Chargers. He’s got nothing with Norv Turner. He loves the city of San Diego. He loves catching the ball from Philip Rivers.”
Said Rivers: “I wish him all the best. I’d love to get the Saints jersey
opportunity to throw to him again but if that’s not the case, I want it to work out for him.”
Turner declined comment.
“It’s been the same since we started camp. We get the guys ready who are here,” the coach said.
Jackson’s original five-year contract expired after last season. But because this is an uncapped year, he would have needed six seasons to become an unrestricted free agent.
Unhappy over not receiving a long-term deal in the offseason, Jackson refused to sign the one-year, $3.268 million contract he was tendered as a restricted free agent. When he and holdout left tackle Marcus McNeill(notes) didn’t sign their tenders by June 15, the Chargers were entitled to offer them 110 percent of their 2009 salaries, essentially cutting $2.5 million off the tenders. If either reports this year, it would be for the final six games in order to accrue a season toward unrestricted free agency.
Smith placed Jackson and McNeill on the roster exempt list on Aug. 20. He used the same tactic on tight end Antonio Gates(notes) in 2005. Gates missed the opener, a close loss to the Dallas Cowboys that helped contribute to the Chargers missing the playoffs that year.
A person with knowledge of the discussions said the Vikings and Chargers did have discussions about Jackson. The person requested anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly about the negotiations.
With Pro Bowl receiver Sidney Rice(notes) out for at least another month and reigning offensive rookie of the year Percy Harvin(notes) not practicing on Wednesday because of a migraine headache, the Vikings only have four healthy receivers on the roster, none of whom have been productive in 2010.
Bernard Berrian(notes), Greg Camarillo(notes) and Greg Lewis(notes) have combined to catch seven passes for 89 yards in the first two games and the Vikings signed free agent Hank Baskett(notes) on Wednesday to add some depth.
Coach Brad Childress declined to discuss Jackson specifically when he spoke to reporters on Wednesday a little over an hour before the deadline passed.
But the coach was asked in general terms about the team’s willingness to part with high draft picks to bring in a player for the final 12 games of a season who may not sign a long-term deal.
The Vikings have traded draft picks for marquee players Cowboys jersey
before, including in 2008 when they sent a first-round draft choice and two third-rounders to Kanas City for defensive end Jared Allen(notes). But the Vikings also signed Allen to a long-term contract before making the deal, ensuring that the high price they paid would keep him in Minnesota for the long run.
“They’re your bartering tool,” Childress said of draft picks. “That’s how you build with younger talent. If you do something for a guy like a Jared Allen, you want to know what you’re giving is commensurate with what you’re getting.”

Former Togo boss 'sorry' over fraudulent friendly

Dallas Cowboys jersey
LOME (AFP) - Former Togo coach Bana Tchanile has apologised for taking a team of imposters masquerading as Togo internationals to play in a friendly against Bahrain, an act that saw him hit with a three-year ban.
Former national coach Tchanile was the man behind one of nfl jerseys
the most embarrassing episodes in the west African country's sporting history when he pitched up in the Bahraini capital of Manama for the September 7 match.
Bahrain won the game, a warm-up for the West Asian Football Federation Championship, 3-0, only for it to later emerge that they had beaten a bunch of fraudsters.
An inquiry was launched last Thursday into the affair by the Togolese football authorities who promptly banned Tchanile from all activities relating to football for a period of three years.
"I'm aware of the mistakes I've made," Tchanile said Tuesday. "I present my sincere apologies to the president of the republic, all the Togolese people and the president of the Bahrain Football Association.
"I've received a three-year ban. I'm obliged to accept it in a gesture of sportsmanship."
Tchanile added that his motives were driven by the frustration of Pittsburgh Steelers jersey
a group of young players who were finding it impossible to break into any of the national set-ups.
"I wanted to help youngsters in Togo who chose to play football, but who have problems making it because of a lack of competition at a national level," he said.
"I don't want to stir up a big fuss, I want the buck to stop at me," he added after acknowledging that members of Togo's caretaker committee had been involved in the scam.
MADRID (AP)—Athletic Bilbao continued its good start to the Spanish league season with a 3-0 victory over Mallorca on Tuesday, while Osasuna picked up its first victory in a 3-1 win over Real Sociedad.
David Lopez curled in a shot from the right side in the 44th minute at the San Mames stadium.
Jose Carlos Nunes handled inside the area and Mikel San Jose stepped up to score the penalty in the 62nd before Inigo Perez buried the third in injury time.
At Pamplona, Real Sociedad blew an early lead after Raul Tamudo Minnesota Vikings jersey
put the visitors ahead in the 17th.
But Walter Pandiani headed home in the 38th before Javier Camunas scored five minutes later. Carlos Arranda headed in the third in the 75th.

French Football Federation Refute Claims They Are Singling Out Patrice Evra After World Cup Debacle

Dallas Cowboys jersey
The French Football Federation has denied deliberately targeting Patrice Evra for his role in the World Cup 2010 debacle, after the player said he was still awaiting an explanation for his five-match international ban.
Evra was the captain of the French national team during their controversial and calamitous exit from South Africa in the summer, and was implicated as one of the key figures behind the team's refusal to train following teammate Nicolas Anelka's clash with then cheap nfl jerseys
head coach Raymond Domenech.
"We're not against him, we're treating him as we'd treat anyone," the FFF's legal director, Jean Lapeyre, told AFP.
"Between the meeting of the [FFF appeals] committee and the Colts jersey
moment when we formalise the decision and dispatch it, there's a bit of time. You can't do it in 24 or 48 hours.
"It's a complex case. It's obvious that we can't rush it through in less than two weeks."
The FFF appeals committee upheld the five-match ban handed to Evra on September 9th.
"We've made good progress," continued Lapeyre.
"I dar to hope that it could be finalised this week. That's the aim. But it takes time. Every word is weighed."
Speaking to Canal+ television on Sunday, Evra explained that his lawyer was yet to receive the reasons for the appeals committee's decision.
"It's difficult to make an appeal as I still don't know why I've been punished," Cowboys jersey
said Evra, on the subject of a possible appeal to the French National Olympic and Sporting Committee (CNOSF)."

Lyon woes continue with defeat at Bordeaux

Dallas Cowboys jersey
Lyon slumped to 17th in the standings with five points from six games, just above the relegation zone and trailing leaders and arch-rivals St Etienne, whom they host next weekend, by eight points.
Lyon, champions seven years in a row from 2002, lost striker Lisandro Lopez with an achilles injury before succumbing to second-half goals by Alou Diarra and Jussie.
Playmaker Yoann Gourcuff, who football jerseys
joined Lyon from Bordeaux during the close season, was booed throughout the match and produced yet another below-par performance.
“Fair play is not the Bordeaux crowd’s prime quality,” Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas told French TV channel Canal Plus.
“It’s a big disappointment because it was already a turning point. We had a good first half but unfortunately we could not do better,” keeper Hugo Lloris added.
“It’s a shame but we will continue to work hard.”
Claude Puel’s side were hoping to get into their stride following a 1-0 home win in their Champions League opener against Schalke 04 on Tuesday, but Bordeaux, who have also made a poor start this season, had other ideas.
In a packed Chaban Delmas stadium, the visitors had the first clear Pittsburgh Steelers jersey
chance but Argentine Lisandro failed to find the target after being nicely set up by Jimmy Briand.
HEADED HOME
Bordeaux piled on the pressure after the break and they were rewarded on the hour when Diarra headed home from a Jaroslav Plasil free kick, forcing Puel to make changes.
Striker Bafetimbi Gomis replaced winger Michel Bastos but the French international inexplicably missed the target from close range on 72 minutes.
Gomis then hit the bar after Bordeaux keeper Cedric Carrasso deflected his fierce shot from inside the box one minute from time.
Brazilian midfielder Jussie picked the ball up just into the Lyon half, slalomed through the defence, paused and coolly slotted home two minutes into stoppage time to wrap a deserved victory.
Earlier, Stade Rennes kept their unbeaten record but squandered the chance to go top of the table with a goalless draw at Paris St Germain.
The Brittany side, third in the standings with 12 points, one adrift of leaders St Etienne, dominated at the Parc des Princes but were wasteful in front of goal.
Rennes striker Victor Hugo Montano had a clear chance on the stroke of halftime but his fierce shot shaved the bar.
PSG, who beat Sevilla 1-0 away in the Europa League on Minnesota Vikings jersey
Thursday, looked jaded and happy to settle for a dull draw.
A last-gasp Moussa Sow goal gave Lille a 1-0 home win over AJ Auxerre as the unbeaten northerners climbed to sixth.

Barca return to form, Valencia clear at the top

Dallas Cowboys jersey
Ten-man Valencia earlier made it three wins out of three and went clear at the top of the standings when Juan Mata and Pablo Hernandez scored in a 2-1 win at Hercules.
Barcelona crashed to a shock 2-0 home defeat by promoted Hercules last weekend but spoiled Atletico’s perfect start to the season with a much more accomplished performance at a typically boisterous Calderon stadium.
Messi, taken off on a stretcher in nfl jerseys
added time after a wild tackle from Tomas Ujfalusi damaged ligaments in his right ankle, poked Barca ahead in the 13th minute, seconds after a David Villa strike had ricocheted back off a post.
Atletico midfielder Raul Garcia lifted the crowd with a towering header past Victor Valdes in the 25th before Spain defender Pique outmuscled the home defence to put Barca back in front just after the half hour.
Atletico goalkeeper David De Gea kept the home side in the match with smart saves from Xavi and Pedro at the start of the second period and Villa and Messi both missed chances to make the game safe.
Villa blasted over with the goal at his mercy and Messi fired straight at De Gea when through on the keeper late on.
ROUSING OVATION
The Atletico fans gave Barca midfielder Andres Iniesta, scorer of Colts jersey
the winning goal for Spain in July’s World Cup final, a rousing ovation when he was replaced by Javier Mascherano.
However, Barca’s victory, their first under Guardiola at the Calderon, was soured shortly after when Messi was carried off and the Argentina forward looked in some pain, clutching his face with both hands as he was stretchered around the touchline.
Czech defender Ujfalusi, who had already picked up a booking, was shown a straight red card.
Barca said in a statement on their website (www.fcbarcelona.com) Messi had sprained the external ligament in his right ankle but there was no bone damage and further tests would be conducted on Monday.
Coach Pep Guardiola called the team’s performance “spectacular” against an “aggressive and intense” Atletico.
“We are very pleased with the win but sad about the injury to Leo (Messi),” he added.
Unai Emery’s Valencia, who kicked off their Champions League campaign with a resounding 4-0 win at Turkey’s Bursaspor, took the lead in the second minute against Hercules when Spain international Mata volleyed in from a Hernandez centre.
Winger Hernandez doubled the visitors’ lead in the 23rd before former Juventus striker David Trezeguet netted from the penalty spot for Hercules two minutes before the break.
Defender David Navarro was dismissed after picking up a second yellow five minutes into the second period but Hercules were unable to find an equaliser.
Valencia have nine points from three matches, two ahead of Cowboys jersey
Real Madrid, who claimed a hardfought 2-1 victory at promoted Real Sociedad on Saturday, and Sevilla, who won 2-1 at Andalusian rivals Malaga in Sunday’s late kickoff.
Atletico and Barca have six points, level with Villarreal and Espanyol.

Eto’o double lifts Inter to win over Palermo

Dallas Cowboys jersey
Inter have seven points from three games, level with promoted Cesena, who beat Lecce 1-0 despite the referee saying he had wrongly sent off Giuseppe Colucci in the first half after a case of mistaken identity.
Cameroonian Eto’o was often overshadowed by strike partner Diego Milito in Inter’s stunning treble triumph last term but their roles have been reversed so far this season.
While Milito has struggled, Eto’o has started his cheap nfl jerseys
second campaign at Inter in supreme form and again dug Rafael Benitez’s inconsistent side out of a hole.
Slovenian Josip Ilicic put struggling Palermo ahead in the first half before Eto’o produced a piece of magic to equalise on 62 minutes following Milito’s pass and soon finished off a fine move involving Dejan Stankovic and Maicon to seal victory.
“The team played a spectacular first half, we controlled everything apart from their goal,” Inter coach Rafael Benitez told Sky TV after playing without the injured Wesley Sneijder.
“We found it a bit harder in the second half but we got two goals. We have to find a bit more balance, but we’re improving.”
Eto’o scored the winner in last weekend’s 2-1 win over Udinese and salvaged a 2-2 draw at Twente Enschede in the Champions League in midweek.
CRAFTY BACKHEEL
Sampdoria could have topped the standings with victory but lost 2-1 at home Steelers jersey
to Napoli in a game that burst into life late on.
Antonio Cassano’s debatable penalty put the hosts ahead on 78 minutes but Napoli, managed by former Samp boss Walter Mazzarri, quickly turned the tables when Marek Hamsik converted a clever free kick and Edinson Cavani poked in at the near post.
Juventus, whose poor form last term continued into the new season, bounced back with a 4-0 win at pointless Udinese, striker Fabio Quagliarella scoring against his former club.
Leonardo Bonucci grabbed the opener before Quagliarella’s crafty backheel, a thunderbolt from Claudio Marchisio and a fourth from Vincenzo Iaquinta, whose aggressive goal celebration was not appreciated by his former Udinese employers.
Striker Marco Borriello netted his first league goal for AS Roma as they raced into a 2-0 lead against Bologna but Claudio Ranieri’s faltering side allowed Marco Di Vaio to score two second-half goals and secure a 2-2 draw for the visitors.
Former Roma forward Luca Toni scored his first league goal for Genoa from the penalty spot in a 1-1 draw at Parma.
Chievo had been the only side with a 100 percent record after two matches but their bubble burst with a 1-0 home defeat by promoted Brescia and Bari drew 0-0 with Cagliari.
On Saturday, AC Milan drew 1-1 at home with Catania and Lazio won Vikings jersey
2-1 at Fiorentina to spark protests from home fans.
Inter host Bari on Wednesday as part of a full midweek programme before weekend matches which are currently the subject of a players’ union strike, although leagues bosses are hopeful of a deal to prevent it.

USA Tenatively Agrees To South Africa Friendly November 17 in Cape Town

Dallas Cowboys jersey
The Yanks are heading back to South Africa.
According to the U.S. Soccer Federation, the USA Men's National Team has reached an agreement to face South Africa in a friendly in Cape Town on November 17.
November 17th is set as cheap nfl jerseys
an international fixture date, but the USA could be missing several players for the match, depending how the U.S. and Mexican domestic leagues shake out.
The MLS Cup final is scheduled for San Francisco 49ers jersey
November 21 in Toronto, and the Mexican league playoffs are set to open November 20-21. Any players participating in these fixtures will almost surely miss out on the South Africa friendly.
The USA is already scheduled to face Poland on October 9 in Chicago and Colombia on October 12 at PPL Park in Chester, PA.

Champions League Special: Group B Curse: Schalke, Benfica And Lyon Facing Huge Games

Dallas Cowboys jersey
After the Champions League group stage draw was made, nobody could have imagined all the big teams in Group B, Schalke, Benfica and Lyon, would be in deep crisis come in mid-September. It looks like they are cursed, and this weekend all of them are facing huge games against historic rivals, with absolutely no room for football jersey
error.
Schalke are hosting ambitious Borussia Dortmund for the boiling hot Ruhr derby on Sunday. They have no points in the Bundeslinga, and lost at Lyon 1-0 in the Champions League opener. For many that is a huge surprise, but their troubles are actually very easy to explain. Felix Magath’s summer transfer campaign has been nothing short of a disaster, with all plans going astray and numerous players hastily arriving in the last seconds of the transfer window.
There are many debates on the departure of Kevin Kuranyi for the money of Dinamo Moscow, but his replacements, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, and to a lesser extent Raul, are actually pretty decent. Other departures, namely Rafinha and Heiko Westermann, were much more significant. Rafinha’s exit was very much expected after his rift with the board, but Magath didn’t find an appropriate solution.
In fact, Schalke amazingly used four different right-backs in their first four games this season. It started with Joel Matip in a defeat at Hamburg, and the Cameroonian was very poor, replaced by newly-signed Atsuto Uchida after an hour.
The inexperienced Japanese got the nod from Magath for the home clash with Hannover, but it only got worse. Uchida himself was substituted, while Matip was terrible at centre-back, as Schalke lost again. A week later, Magath bizarrely opted for Christoph Metzelder at right-back against speedy Hoffenheim, with disastrous results.
The dreadful former national team defender had to be replaced at half-time, as Schalke were slaughtered. Finally, Magath switched young midfielder Christoph Moritz to the problematic position, and duly got his reward – Moritz was the player who gifted the French side the winning goal.
A coach with less prestige than Magath would have been rightfully sacked just on the basis of this farce alone, but that’s not the end of it - one must say that Westermann’s sale was the biggest mistake of them all. The man who missed out on a place in Jogi Loew’s World Cup squad only because of Chicago Bears jersey
injury, is an extremely reliable defensive all-rounder.
He can play left, right and centre, and even be used as a holding midfielder. And he is a born leader to boot – that’s why Hamburg immediately promoted him to captain. While sorry Matip, Metzelder, Uchida and dreadfully average signing like Hans Sarpei, struggle, it is Westermann who is sorely missed.
A failure to replace him is another good reason to fire Magath, and we didn’t even start talking about lack of a decent playmaker (unless Ciprian Deac turns out to be one).
The derby against Jurgen Klopp’s Dortmund, who are almost choking with youthful self-confidence at the moment, is crucial for Magath. Interesting to see who plays right-back this time. Why not try Raul there, as he doesn’t get any balls in the attack anyway?
Benfica are facing a hot derby against Sporting, and their misfortune is more surprising. The Portuguese champions have lost three league games out of four this season, after falling to just two losses during entire 2009-10 campaign.
Coach Jorge Jesus can blame it on the departure of two influential stars, Angel Di Maria to Real Madrid and Ramires to Chelsea, but the biggest problem is in goal. The Eagles wasted €8.5 million on a 24-year-old Spaniard Roberto, who has absolutely no first team experience, and are suffering as a result.
Worse still, the fans are not very supportive either. The players who won the title in such style just a few months ago are being unceremoniously whistled. Oscar Cardozo, the Paraguayan striker who became an idol at Estadio da Luz with 38 goals last season, was so outraged at the fans behaviour that he attempted to silence them after scoring in a 2-0 win over Hapoel Tel Aviv in the Champions League. Even such a performance against the Israeli champions wasn’t enough for the supporters. If Benfica fail in a huge derby versus Sporting, Jesus’ reign will be in a grave danger.
Self-belief is a problem at Benfica, but even more so at Lyon who travel to Bordeaux, knowing they must not lose. The richest club in France are in 16th place, with just one win and four goals scored to report from their first five league games. Winning against pathetic Schalke in the Champions League is nice, but coach Claude Puel knows he must deliver the league title that eluded him in his first two seasons at Jean-Michel Aulas’ team.
The most interesting aspect of New Orleans Saints jersey
Puel’s Lyon is that in the previous seasons they started brilliantly, only to fade later in the season. His first season began with six wins out of seven, and the second started with six wins out of eight.
This time, Les Gones are yet to get an away point, having lost at mediocre Caen and Lorient, and if they lose again at Bordeaux, where Jean Tigana isn’t experiencing the best start to his new career either, Puel might be on his way. After all, his biggest achievement is qualifying to the Champions League semi-finals, while beating the very same Bordeaux in the process. If he can’t do that again, what’s the point of giving him more credit?

Pick Your Arsenal Team To Play Sunderland

Dallas Cowboys jersey
Arsenal have put their stamp on the league so far with a number of impressive wins and will look to continue their successful run with an away victory against Sunderland.
Despite a cautious performance against Liverpool in their nfl jerseys
opening fixture away to Anfield, Arsene Wenger’s men have secured imposing wins against Blackpool in which they fired six past the Seasiders and a comfortable win against Bolton in which they scored four goals to gain three points.
The Gunners are yet to lose a game this season and after a 6-0 romping over Braga in the Champions League the London club will be confident of getting a result at the Stadium of Light, however, the last fixture resulted in a loss for Arsenal after Darren Bent scored the winner for Sunderland.
Arsenal boss Wenger suffered no injuries to his team during midweek so he is able to pick from an unchanged squad, however Robin van Persie and Theo Walcott still remain out with ankle injuries.
Jack Wilshere and Samir Nasri are likely to be in the starting line-up for the Gunners Saints jersey
and Wenger may also call upon the likes of Kieron Gibbs, Emmanuel Eboue and Rosicky.
Freiburg extended their impressive early season run with a narrow victory over struggling Eintracht Frankfurt tonight. A late, 89th minute goal from Jan Rosenthal was enough to see the visitors secure three points.
Freiburg looked the better side throughout the match, but struggled to put their chances away. Papiss Demba Cisse, who had scored a league-leading four goals prior to tonight's match, missed a hatful of opportunities, but in the end, Freiburg managed to take all three points. There were claims of offside before Maximilian Nicu set up Rosenthal's winner, but the referee's flag stayed down.
Their victory puts Freiburg level on points with league San Diego Chargers jersey
leaders Mainz and Hoffenheim, while Frankfurt slump to their third loss in four matches. For all the German news you can handle, check out Goal.com's Germany homepage and join Goal.com USA's Facebook fan page

No Heisman winner for 2005

Cowboys jersey
After Reggie Bush decided to give back his Heisman Trophy, the Heisman Trophy Trust announced today there would be no winner for 2005. So that means runner-up Vince Young will not be given the trophy.
Here is the official statement from the football jerseys
Heisman Trust:
"The Heisman Trophy Trust is a charitable entity whose mission is to ensure the continuation and integrity of the Heisman Trophy; to foster a sense of community responsibility; and to help service the disadvantaged and afflicted youth of our country.
"The Trustees of the Trust have been monitoring the NCAA investigation of Reggie Bush and USC since first announced. We determined that no action was necessary by the Trust unless and until the NCAA acted and issued its report. Since the issuance of the NCAA decision vacating USC’s 2005 season and San Francisco 49ers jersey
declaring Reggie Bush an ineligible athlete, the Trustees have met, discussed and reviewed all information underlying this decision in an effort to exercise the due diligence and due process required of any decision regarding the awarding of the 2005 Heisman Trophy.
"We are very appreciative of the respect Reggie Bush demonstrated for the Heisman Trust, the whole Heisman fraternity and the continuing legacy of the Trophy in his public statement issued September 14, 2010. It was a difficult decision to return the Heisman Trophy and he exhibited great character in acknowledging his mistakes and accepting the consequences. We intend to explore further his offer to support jointly 'an educational program which will assist student athletes and their families' to avoid the pitfalls that plagued him during his college years as this is a part of our charitable mission as well.
"As a result of Reggie Bush's decision to forfeit his title as Buffalo Bills jersey
Heisman winner of 2005, the Trustees have determined that there will be no Heisman Trophy winner for the year 2005."

Northern Illinois still uncertain about Kill

Cowboys jersey
Nobody knows whether Northern Illinois coach Jerry Kill will be on the sideline Saturday against Illinois. But nobody wants to count him out either.
Kill has been in the hospital since Sunday, when he suffered nfl jerseys
a setback to surgery he had earlier in the month. He remained there Wednesday. Kill has requested his medical condition be kept private, although he did say it has nothing to do with the cancer he fought in 2005.
If Kill cannot be there Saturday, defensive coordinator Tracy Claeys will coach the team.
"I would be shocked if he’s not there on Saturday based off of past experiences," Claeys said. "I know I’m not going to be the one that recommends to him what he does."
Players found out about Kill during a team meeting Sunday and went through practice Tuesday without him. It is obvious what is happening with their coach is in the back of their minds, but the players refuse to allow that to be a distraction.
“We need to keep everything going that we’ve been doing," linebacker Alex Kube said. "We just need to keep doing what we’re doing whether coach is there or not. He’s going to expect us to keep up the leadership. I know that he trusts us to know that we’re going to get the job done. We’re not going to Chicago Bears jersey
change anything. We’re going to get the job done still. We’re not going to change anything. We’re still going to work hard and make sure everybody around us is working hard.”
Kill had his surgery the day after the team lost to Iowa State and was back the following week. He admitted after his team beat North Dakota on Saturday it had been a tough week for him. A day later, he was back in the hospital.
Whether he is in Champaign or cheering his team on from someplace else, the Huskies (1-1) go into the game off uneven performances to start the year. The quarterback competition went down to the wire, and DeMarcus Grady won the job. But he had a bad outing in a 27-10 loss at Iowa State, going 14-of-29 for 93 yards and three interceptions.
Chandler Harnish started last week against North Dakota and played better, most notably getting 178 yards on the ground off 21 carries. But still, North Dakota hung around longer than anyone anticipated, getting as close as 16-14 in the third quarter before the Huskies pulled away.
Offensive coordinator Matt Limegrover said Harnish would most likely get the start against the Illini. Harnish had been battling a knee injury that many thought would require surgery, but he opted against it. He is now completely healthy. Though he was surprised he ran as much as he did against North Dakota, he was fine with it, considering Chad Spann was shut down after he scored on a 79-yard touchdown run to open the game.
“I definitely felt like I wanted to prove myself again, which sometimes is a good thing," Harnish said. "Competition is always healthy for a team and I felt like I definitely had to do that and now this weekend I’m going to feel more comfortable and confident."
Northern Illinois is also hoping to pull an New Orleans Saints jersey
upset the way it did last year, when it won at Purdue 28-21 in Week 3. In three previous meetings, the Huskies have never beaten the Illini.
If Kill is unable to be there, winning it for him would no doubt feel much sweeter.

oach: Tebow snaps don't disrupt Orton

Indianapolis Colts jersey

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The New York Jets defense has absorbed a nasty blow a handful of plays into their season.
Nose tackle Kris Jenkins, one of their best players, has hurt his left nfl jersey
knee again. He has left the field in Monday night's game against the Baltimore Ravens.
Jenkins was injured about 6 1/2 minutes into the game, while making a tackle on Ravens running back Le'Ron McClain.
Jenkins was flat on his back for a couple minutes with a few teammates kneeling next to him. Defensive tackle Sione Pouha seemed to be praying over him until Jenkins sat up, slowly got to his feet and gathered himself before easing off the Minnesota Vikings jersey
field under his own power. Jenkins immediately left the Jets' sideline and headed for the trainers' room.
He had a season-ending knee injury six games into last season. The Jets still managed to finish with the NFL's top-rated defense, but he's considered critical as the keystone to their 3-4 defensive front.
Jets coach Rex Ryan recently raved about Jenkins' recovery from the injury.
"I think he’s better this year than he was last year," Ryan said. "The way he approaches practices and the way he’s working.
"The way he has approached it, his thing is he’s trying to get better fundamentally. When you have a veteran who is willing to accept coaching, willing to do things and look at himself critically from a technique standpoint, he’s willing to improve, regardless of Indianapolis Colts jersey
his age. That’s what you’re seeing.
"We are seeing a phenomenal Kris Jenkins and he was phenomenal to begin with. He’s really become a better technique player, which is scary for the league, I would think.

Ravens-Jets halftime notes

Pittsburgh Steelers jersey

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ. -- The Baltimore Ravens lead the New York Jets, 7-6, at halftime on "Monday's Night Football."

Here are some notes and observations:

* The Ravens are fortunate to be leading, because it's been a football jerseys
sloppy game so far. Baltimore's execution isn't sharp on offense and quarterback Joe Flacco has two turnovers (one fumble, one interception) in the first half. Still, penalties by New York kept Baltimore's offense on the field enough to score a touchdown before halftime.
* There have not been many rushing lanes for Baltimore's offense. Pro Bowl tailback Ray Rice has just 19 rushing yards in the first half. New York is playing very disciplined defense along the front seven and holding its ground. Baltimore's best shot to move the ball could Dallas Cowboys jersey
be spread out the Jets in the second half.
* One of the few offensive players making an impact for Baltimore is new receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh. He has one big catch for 27 yards on third down. But he's also drawn three penalties against Jets cornerbacks, which resulted in first downs and are just as good as receptions. A pass interference by Jets rookie cornerback Kyle Wilson helped set up Willis McGahee's touchdown run for the Ravens.
* Baltimore offensive lineman Marshal Yanda was moved from right guard to right tackle and he struggled in the first half. Yanda didn't win many battles in the trenches and was beat on the right corner during a big sack and fumble by quarterback Joe Flacco Indianapolis Colts jersey
in the first quarter. Jared Gaither is the projected starter but has been out with a back injury.

Halftime observations from Ravens at Jets

Pittsburgh Steelers jersey

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- A few observations and updates from the first half of Monday night's game at the New Meadowlands, where the Baltimore Ravens lead the New York Jets 7-6:
# The Jets survived losing Kris Jenkins after six games last year, but nfl jerseys
that doesn't mean they can shake off a prolonged absence because of another knee injury on the second Ravens possession. Jenkins is one of the best nose tackles. When healthy, he might be unsurpassed. If the injury is a season-ender, then you have to wonder if he might call it a career. Jenkins contemplated retirement before returning from last year's knee injury.
# The Jets have been undisciplined, committing 10 penalties for 100 yards. Those flags gave the Ravens five of their 12 first downs.
# The Jets have allowed more penalty yards than Pittsburgh Steelers jersey
they’ve gained. They have 84 yards of total offense.
# New York's defense generally was impressive. On Baltimore's opening play, Shaun Ellis and Bryan Thomas waylaid Joe Flacco with a collision sandwich that you'll see on highlight packages all year. Flacco fumbled, the first of three Baltimore turnovers before halftime.
# Antonio Cromartie will be high risk/high reward this year. The Ravens showed Darrelle Revis a healthy dose of respect and targeted Cromartie with success for much of the first half. He gave up big receptions and committed two penalties (holding and pass interference). But Cromartie made a spectacular interception near the end zone and dashed off on a 66-yard return to flip the field.
# A big problem for the Jets was their third-down defense. The Ravens converted six of eight third downs. The Jets led the NFL last year by allowing offenses to convert only 32 percent of Minnesota Vikings jersey
their first downs.
# Braylon Edwards committed two costly penalties in the second quarter. He was called for illegal motion to wipe out a gorgeous 33-yard strike from Mark Sanchez to Dustin Keller at the Baltimore 4-yard line. Edwards later ran into kicker Billy Cundiff on a 46-yard field goal to give Baltimore a first down. Baltimore eventually scored its only touchdown on the extended drive.

Eredivisie: Profligate Feyenoord punished by Breda

Steelers jersey

Two late goals saw a profligate Feyenoord side slump to a 2-0 defeat at NAC Breda in the Eredivisie.
Feyenoord had the better share of the chances for much of nfl jersey
the game and went close through Ron Vlaar more than once.
However, Robbert Schilder broke the deadlock for NAC six minutes from time and doubled his tally in added time when Feyenoord's Bruno Martins Indi was dismissed and the resulting free-kick was converted.
Andreas Granqvist's 85th-minute penalty was enough for FC Groningen to claim a deserved 1-0 home success against FC Utrecht.
The home side dominated for the majority of Dallas Cowboys jersey
the match but had to rely on Granqvist's cool head from the spot to claim the points after Tim Matavz was fouled in the area by Michael Silberbauer.
The win means Pieter Huistra's side remain unbeaten and are just two points off joint leaders PSV Eindhoven and Ajax.
A late Hugo Bargas brace saw De Graafschap battle back from two goals down to secure a point from their match at ADO Den Haag.
Dmitri Bulykin had put the hosts ahead in the 11th minute and substitute Kevin Pittsburgh Steelers jersey
Visser doubled their advantage with virtually his first touch in the 71st minute.
But Bargas pulled one back two minutes later and then notched again with a spectacular overhead kick two minutes from time to earn the visitors their fourth point of the season.

TE Davis gets 5-year extension

Cowboys jersey

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP)—For months, Vernon Davis(notes) insisted he wasn’t concerned about a contract extension—saying it would all take care of itself in time. Even after 49ers defensive star Patrick Willis(notes) received a hefty new deal in cheap nfl jerseys
May.
“I didn’t let it bother me,” Davis said. “I prayed about it. My grandmother prayed about it.”
That patience paid off. Now, Davis is the highest-paid tight end in NFL history.
The 26-year-old Davis signed a five-year extension with San Francisco on Saturday, a day before the team opens the season at NFC West rival Seattle as the division favorite.
He heard from his agent Friday night that things were a go. Davis is relieved to have this done before the season begins, thus avoiding entering free agency after 2010.
“It’s a beautiful thing, especially going into the season not worrying about it,” Davis said. “It’s not weighing heavy on my mind. Just go out on the field and continue to perform.”
A person familiar with the contract told The Associated Press that Davis will get $37 million overall, with $34 million guaranteed. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the contract details were not released.
The contract is worth $3 million more in guaranteed money than San Diego’s Antonio Gates(notes) received.
“Being the highest paid tight end at my position says a lot but when it comes down to it I’m not playing the game for money. It’s about passion,” Davis said. “I didn’t let it get to me because the only thing I could focus on is football. One thing about me once the season starts, I’m 100 percent football and that’s all.”
Davis, entering his fifth NFL season, led the 49ers last season with 78 catches for 965 yards and 13 touchdowns, which matched Gates’ NFL record for TDs by a tight end. Davis made his first Pro Bowl in 2009 and tied for the league lead in touchdown catches with Randy Moss(notes) and Larry Fitzgerald(notes).
“I found myself saying this earlier this spring I couldn’t be happier for an individual to sign a contract extension and be with the 49ers for five more years, and that was Patrick Willis,” coach Mike Singletary said in a conference call Saturday night from Seattle. “Now that Vernon has signed, you’re talking about two of the finest players at their positions in the league. I’m very happy for Vernon because he deserves everything he gets.”
Davis has 181 receptions for 2,097 yards and 22 touchdowns in his career.
Selected sixth overall in 2006 out of Minnesota Vikings jersey
Maryland, Davis started eight games as a rookie and has been a regular, when healthy, ever since. He also is a team captain, a good blocker as well as a threat over the middle and deep.
Singletary said he has no concerns about the money going to Davis’ head.
“Vernon is a guy, if you find a guy who comes in and he’s one of hardest working guys on your team if not the hardest working guy on your team, what’s going to change him?” Singletary said. “That’s been the mark of Vernon Davis since he got here.”
In extending Davis’ contract, the 49ers have made deals with two of their best players—on either side of the ball. Davis joins Willis, the Niners’ All-Pro linebacker. New vice president of player personnel Trent Baalke orchestrated the extensions in two significant moves since he took over football operations following the abrupt departure of general manager Scot McCloughan in March.
Once known for scuffling with teammates, Davis has become a team leader under Singletary. They have had their moments in the past, too.
Singletary sent Davis to the showers early during the coach’s debut in October 2008 against Seattle for the way he reacted to a personal foul penalty. Davis has come a long way since that day, taming down his once volatile antics and not letting opponents get to him on the field.
He considers growing up a big part of his success—and he largely credits Singletary in that transformation. Singletary knows Davis will come to play every game and every practice, and have fun in the process.
“All you have to do is look at the identity of the 49ers and Vernon fits it,” Singletary said. “We’re very fortunate to have him here. He’s a great role model for the rest of our players.”
Davis and second-year wide receiver Michael Crabtree(notes) got into a verbal on-field spat during a training camp practice, after which Davis said he was simply displaying his leadership. Singletary, who stepped between the players and took both to the locker room for a chat, also said he appreciated Davis’ efforts though perhaps not his methods.
Davis said afterward he was frustrated by some things Crabtree did that he “didn’t like.”
“It was a matter of Pittsburgh Steelers jersey
being a team captain. All I was doing was taking care of my responsibilities and doing my job,” Davis said.

Opening drive: Five AFC teams can’t afford a stumbling start

Cowboys jersey

Before Week 1, every NFL team is a contender. On Tuesday, half the league will be scrambling after a loss.
Getting out to a fast start is critical, especially in football jersey
the tough AFC. Five teams to watch closely early in the playoff race:
Houston Texans. They've been a sleeper team the past few years, thanks in part to wide receiver Andre Johnson(notes) headlining a prolific passing game. Sunday, they open with a critical home game against their division nemesis, the Colts—a team they have beaten only once in 16 tries.
CBS play-by-play man Jim Nantz, who said the Texans may have more riding on Week 1 than any team, believes a victory over Indianapolis would have a lasting effect. "They'll be looked at as perhaps the team to beat in the AFC South," he said.
Pittsburgh Steelers. They will be without Ben Roethlisberger(notes) for four weeks and will especially need to be up to the challenge in home games against the Falcons (Sunday) and Ravens (Oct. 3). "They're going to lean on their defense, they're going to Indianapolis Colts jersey
lean on the running game," CBS analyst and former Steelers coach Bill Cowher said. "It's not something they haven't done before."
Cincinnati Bengals. The reigning AFC North champions have a chance to make a big statement Sunday at New England. The Bengals will try to show they were for real last season, and that they are improved this season. "They feel like this is their year," ESPN analyst and former Broncos linebacker Tom Jackson said.
New York Jets. Now that they've done the talking, they have to try to live up to expectations. And they start with two teams that don't like them—Ray Lewis'(notes) Ravens and Tom Brady's(notes) Patriots. "They put a lot of pressure on themselves," Hall of Fame quarterback and CBS analyst Dan Marino said.
San Diego Chargers. It's time to shake the habit of Dallas Cowboys jersey
stumbling out of the gate. With a favorable schedule, they must prove they can shine without two holdouts: wide receiver Vincent Jackson(notes) and left tackle Marcus McNeill(notes). "They need to show, 'We can still be a dominant offense,' " ESPN analyst and former NFL quarterback Trent Dilfer(notes) said.

Rooney returns to action for Man United at Everton

Cowboys jersey

LONDON (AP)—Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney can expect a hostile reception when he returns to Goodison Park on Saturday for a Premier League match against former club Everton.
Allegations about Rooney’s private life have been dominating the nfl jerseys
headlines, even though he returned to form on England duty over the past week with a goal against Switzerland and a flurry of assists against Bulgaria.
The 24-year-old striker should start against the club that sold him to United in 2004, despite the likelihood of abuse from home fans.
“There is a good chance he will get slaughtered,” said Everton defender Phil Jagielka, who played alongside Rooney for England on Tuesday. “He normally gets quite a bit of stick anyway. I can’t see that changing come Saturday.”
United manager Alex Ferguson refused to discuss Rooney and the player’s off-field issues in a pre-match news conference, instead opting to focus on the threat posed by an opponent which has picked up just one point from its opening three matches.
“Everton’s a hard place to go—the atmosphere’s always terrific—but we have a fantastic record there,” Ferguson said. “I think I’ve lost only three times there in 24 years.”
Rooney scored his first league goal of the season in a 3-0 win over West Ham before the international break that lifted the 18-time English champions to seven points, two behind leader Chelsea.
He should again partner the in-form Dimitar Berbatov up front while Ferguson must decide whether to recall England center back Rio Ferdinand, who is available after recovering from knee injury.
Everton is without young midfielder Jack Rodwell, who has been ruled out for up to three months with an ankle injury.
Chelsea is the only side to have won all three so far this campaign, scoring 14 goals without conceding. Next up is a trip to West Ham, which is without a point and has conceded three goals in each of its matches.
“I know they are bottom, but on the pitch it is different and we have to play well,” Chelsea defender Alex said. “We have to start the game strong and … attack in the first 15 minutes.”
Chelsea captain John Terry is available again to manager Dallas Cowboys jersey
Carlo Ancelotti after recovering from a hamstring injury that forced him to miss England’s two European Championship qualifiers. Midfielder Frank Lampard remains sidelined after undergoing hernia surgery during the international break.
West Ham is managed by Avram Grant, who guided Chelsea to the Champions League final in 2008 but is under pressure following his new club’s poor start.
This weekend is the first chance for clubs to play new signings they made prior to the closing of the transfer window at the end of August.
Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp was busy as usual on deadline day, signing Netherlands midfielder Rafael van der Vaart and Croatia goalkeeper Stipe Pletikosa, and both players could make their debuts in the match at West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
Recent arrivals William Gallas and Sandro are also in line for Spurs debuts but England striker Jermain Defoe was ruled out for three months following surgery on torn ankle ligaments.
Second-place Arsenal, which is level on seven points with United, is at home to Bolton but is short of attacking options after injuries to striker Robin van Persie and winger Theo Walcott.
Elsewhere on Saturday, Manchester City hosts Blackburn, Wolverhampton Wanderers is at Fulham, Newcastle is at home to Blackpool and Wigan hosts Sunderland.
On Sunday, Liverpool could give debuts to new signings Raul Meireles and Paul Konchesky when it plays Birmingham, which has yet to lose this season.
On Monday, Aston Villa plays for the first time since the Minnesota Vikings jersey
club appointed Gerard Houllier as manager, succeeding Martin O’Neill.
Villa, which is at second-from-last Stoke, climbed up to fourth place under temporary manager Kevin MacDonald, who will be in charge for the final time before Houllier takes over.

Thumbs down to Blatter’s extra time proposals

Cowboys jersey

PARIS (AP)—In 514 matches for club and country, German wunder-forward Oliver Bierhoff scored 226 times. Yet only once, Bierhoff says, did he celebrate by whipping off his jersey: when his left-footed golden goal made Germany the European champion in 1996.
That sudden-death winner against the Czech Republic, after just four minutes of nfl jersey
extra time, was the first golden goal scored in a major international competition.
“For sure the most important goal in my career,” says Bierhoff, who is now team manager for Germany’s national side.
Czech goalkeeper Petr Kouba’s outstretched hands only managed to divert the shot against the inside of his left post. Czech players collapsed grief-stricken as Bierhoff tore away in shirt-waving joy in front of 76,000 spectators in Wembley Stadium.
“It’s strange,” Bierhoff said in a phone interview, trying 14 years later to pinpoint why that was the only time he felt compelled to go torso-naked for a goal. “Perhaps deep inside me I realized the game was over.”
No question: Because it delivered results with the brutal and sudden finality of a guillotine, the golden goal method of deciding football matches provided unforgettable moments of drama during its decade of use starting in 1993.
That doesn’t mean it should be revived ghoul-like from the grave now.
FIFA president Sepp Blatter’s suggestion is like putting a bottle of vinegar in the cupboard and hoping 10 years later that it will, somehow, have magically transformed into a vintage wine. It hasn’t.
Had this method been the answer to Blatter’s prayers and a consistent, widely appreciated antidote to dull football then FIFA wouldn’t have splashed the headline—“Footballing world cheers end of golden goal”—on its web site in 2004 when the sport’s rule-makers abolished it. For deciding matches deadlocked after 90 minutes, they instead reverted to a full 30 minutes of extra time followed, if necessary, by a penalty shoot-out.
Blatter, like many of us, was dismayed by the lack of Indianapolis Colts jersey
ambition from some teams at the 2010 World Cup that played not to win games but rather to not lose. Naively, Blatter feels that tinkering with the rules might encourage more attacking football.
Nations like New Zealand, Algeria, Switzerland, Honduras, North Korea or Greece—which together scored a pathetic six goals between them in South Africa — cannot be conjured into attack-minded whirlwinds like Spain, Argentina or Germany with a tweak here or there. They don’t have the necessary talent or strength in depth and so instead play within their limitations.
Blatter can’t stop weaker teams from playing for draws or pulling 10 men back in hopes of keeping goals out until they can try their luck in a penalty shoot-out. His suggested alternative to golden goals—that shoot-outs be organized after 90 minutes of play instead of the current 120—is silly because it would merely mean that unambitious teams have to hang on for a shorter time before they are rewarded with the lottery of penalties.
Consider the World Cup final. It would have been wrong had the Netherlands beaten Spain on penalties after playing so cynically and negatively for the first 90 minutes. Extra time allowed Spain to finally break down the Dutch and football justice to be done.
Because of the disparities in talent, there will always be dull games and teams at the World Cup. We can legitimately hope that future World Cups will be better without having to flip-flop back and forth between changing sets of rules. Let us also not forget that one reason put forth by some players and coaches for the restricted diet of goals in South Africa was the lightness of the World Cup ball that, at altitude, became hard to control. That should be easy for FIFA to remedy for Brazil in 2014.
Bigger priorities for FIFA should be concentrating on limiting the atrocious refereeing errors that marred some games in South Africa, including quickly accepting goal-line technology. Players might also be more inclined or able to attack if they weren’t being exhausted by over-strenuous seasons. That far trickier and complex problem is more worthy of FIFA’s utmost attention than asking committees to toy with golden goals or extra time.
“This would be much more important,” Bierhoff says of Minnesota Vikings jersey
possibly lightening players’ commitments.
“The big players come to the tournaments very tired. It becomes more and more difficult for these Messis and Ronaldos to come fresh,” he says.
And reviving golden goals?
“It will change nothing,” he says.
Hardly a ringing endorsement from someone best remembered for scoring one.

Cowboys jersey
